The Nomads board had its first meeting in 13 months on Thursday in Blantyre, which was chaired  by  Mpinganjira, who appears to have heeded supporters’ call to rescind his decision to quit.

The meeting was attended by almost the entire board.

Mpinganjira: There was unity of purpose

In an interview yesterday, the business magnate and philanthropist said: “The board meeting was great. There was unity of purpose and it was resolved that we should all pull in the same direction.”

In a statement issued yesterday, board secretary Humphrey Mvula said among others, the board was unanimous in agreeing  to promote discipline and fairplay at every structure of the team starting with the board itself, players, supporters and all stakeholders.

“The board also thanked Dr. Mpinganjira for supporting the team financially and materially for the past two seasons even during the time we had partial sponsorship from Salima Sugar Company Limited [and] to date, he has pumped in K300 million.

It also applauded Mukuru for partnering the club.

“Reads the statement: “The board also agreed to aggressively identify additional sponsors from both public and private sectors.

“It also reconstituted one of the football development sub-committee which will now be chaired by Limbani Magomero while Jack Kamwendo has been maintained as vice-chairperson.

One of the board members, Ernest Maganga, described it as a fruitful meeting.

He said: “After months of squabbles it was good to sit down as a team and force the way forward. I thank the president for his efforts to bring us together.”
